Spears Registers for Posh Baby Presents

Britney Spears has registered for thousands of dollars worth of pricey baby gifts at a Los Angeles boutique - including a $1,200 baby chandelier. Posh store Petit Tresor is a favorite with celebrity moms and Spears has reportedly registered on the shop's website. A source confirms to MSNBC, "She's having a baby shower soon and has told friends that they can order gifts from the site. It's not like she's expecting her friends to buy everything for the baby. She's already spent, like, $30,000 at the store." The pregnant pop star's registry strongly suggests she's expecting a baby girl because of the predominately pink and frilly merchandise selected.

Oil Prices Set Record At More Than $75 A Barrel...

Oil prices jumped to a record above $75 a barrel on Wednesday, propelled by a rally in gasoline that analysts said could send average U.S. pump prices past $3 a gallon by the weekend.

Recent snags in oil-shipping and refining along the Gulf Coast have raised traders' concerns about motor-fuel supplies at a time when demand continues to rise in spite of soaring prices. The start of a new fiscal quarter also brought more speculative money into the market, brokers said

Top US bosses 'earn $11m a year'

Source: BBC News

US bosses earn an average $11m (£6m; 8.7m euros) per year, representing a salary 262 times the average worker's.

The average worker's annual earning was just below $42,000, showed findings from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), a think-tank.

Chief executives made more money in one working day than an average worker made in a year, the research showed.

The gap is the second biggest in 40 years. In 1965 bosses were earning just 24 times the average worker's pay.

The only time this year's figure was beaten was in 2000, when the ratio hit 300.

Back in 1965, the heads of major US firms earned 24 times more than the average worker.

The EPI calculated chief executives' earnings to include salary, bonus and shares. Pay for workers was based on hourly wages.

Executives' pay has been a controversial issue in recent years as shares have fallen in value even as multi-million dollar bonuses have been given to top executives.

Chief executives of the 11 largest firms earned $865m over the past two years, while shares fell by $640bn, a study from Corporate Library, which researches pay and compensation data, recently showed.
